Term 4 Assignment #3 Movie Review

Bowling For Columbine - Review

You have been hired by a national magazine to write a review of the film. You will need to grab the readers' attention with a creative intro. Then summarize Michael Moore's main ideas. Describe the ways he attempts to make the film compelling. Make sure you discuss your opinion of his ideas and his methods. Should someone see this movie? What do you like about it? What don't you like?

You have probably read movie reviews before when you are deciding whether or not you want to see a film. Read a few different reviews, but this time focus on the writing in the review.

 Two sites to consider:

Roger Ebert: http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews

Rolling Stone: http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/reviews

I strongly suggest that you DO NOT look at an old review of Bowling for Columbine. It makes it hard to be original. I've read most of them and remember that copying even a sentence is plagiarism and that would result in a zero.

This review should be three to five paragraphs. First or third person could work.

Term 4 Assignment # 2 Social Media - The New Paparazzi

Emma Teitel's article "The New Paparazzi", published in the November 7, 2011 edition of Macleans, outlines some of the concerns facing today's society regarding privacy and social  media.

Write a response to this article that summarizes the main points and adds your thoughts on the issue.

I would suggest an introductory paragraph that has a dynamic introduction, author, title of the article, and very brief overview of the subject. Your next two paragraphs should detail the two main ideas with at least one direct reference for each paragraph.

Finally add a paragraph that outlines your thoughts. You might agree or disagree with a couple of her points or you may add a thought that is related but that she has not explored in her article. I would suggest you write the entire article in third person point of view but it is not mandadtory.

Consider sticking a picture or two in there to make it look more like an article.
